The Wedding Diet

No, this is not a post about how to lose weight for your wedding. It isn’t about the totally obvious plan of “eat well, exercise more”. It’s isn’t about crash diets that will make you drop a dress size within two days.

This post is about something I have dubbed The Wedding Diet.

We got engaged exactly one month ago today.

In that one month, we have consumed nothing but the following: champagne; cupcakes; wine; champagne; chocolate; champagne; macarons; cake; macarons; champagne.

I am quite sure our bloodstreams consist entirely of bubbly and macaron particles.

The reason is for this is the celebratory nature of this event, this engagement vibe.

Every day, you will be asked to drinks, coffee, tea, etc., with friends. Every weekend you will be invited to friends’ houses, or you will have an engagement party, or you will be treated to lunch/dinner/drinks/high tea. And on every one of these occasions you will have bubbly, macarons, cupcakes, wine, chocolate, or cake on offer. Sometimes you will even have all of these things in front of you at once. Because, I mean, who celebrates with a salad and a glass of water? On top of the unhealthy invites,you will also get gifts. Like bottles of bubbly. Many bottles. Enough bottles to start a champagne farm. Or cupcakes. Or a kilogram of macarons. Or a cake. People will buy you dinner [read: champagne], and then send you off with a box of delicious eats. That is how this goes. And it is pretty awesome, especially the part where you get to celebrate with the important people in your life. And eat macarons dipped in champagne for breakfast.

We will start getting in shape for the Big Day soon. We promise.

But for now, we are on the wedding diet. And it is fabulous.
